Walking by the Swan River, Success Hill, Bassendean

Spring is almost here! I thought I'd share with you some images taken using my mobile phone camera whilst walking my dog this morning by the Swan River at Success Hill Reserve. This magical place is just a few minutes walk from my home in Bassendean. I am not the greatest photographer as I'm never paying attention to lighting etc but these images do capture what an amazing place Success Hill Reserve is!

The local council have just completed building a new floating jetty. It looks fantastic, a huge improvement on the old unsafe, broken one that was there previously. I think that the construction has been completed and a few council workers were planting native seedlings alongside the path and stairs this morning.

I'm so fortunate to live within short walking distance to this beautiful spot of the Swan River. Just across the other side of the river and a good stroll away is Fishmarket Reserve and the historic suburb of Guildford.

A couple of years ago a fire went through Sucess Hill and the ground cover and bushes were blackened, look at it now its so lush and green. I heard that firefighters found a human skeleton in this area, not sure if this was true, I might have to get back to you on this and investigate this rumour further.

There were loads of birds calling and singing this morning, it was an orchestra, a couple of kookaburras too. Ducks further down the river towards the bridge have had nine little babies, very cute! I tried to capture them on camera but they ran into the water very quickly (my dog was too close for them).
